introduction
The Yoga Connection

A good Yoga practice gives you a sense of oneness and connectivity. The breath is connected to the movement, the body parts to one another, the mind, emotions, and spiritual self to the body, the left side to the right side, the upper body to the lower body, the front to the back, until the entire being vibrates with oneness and connection in a blissful, joyous state.

From this place, we expand beyond ourselves into a sense of oneness and connection with all beings.  Empathy and compassion are nurtured in this state, so that we evolve into more giving, positive people radiating light and loving kindness.  These qualities are the natural outgrowth of a consistent holistic yoga practice.

Our bodies are maps, carrying the sum total of our life experiences. Yoga should be tailored to our individual needs, enabling us to learn about and work effectively with our personal "maps."  The Breath is vital for healing to begin from within the energy body; connecting the mind, body & soul.

Neshima (Hebrew for breath) equals Neshama (Hebrew for soul with a yud representing the Divine.)  × ×©×™×ž×” = נשמה + ×™.
A regular yoga practice which emphasizes proper breathing leads one to their higher potential.

Healing the Mind, Body & Soul

The Rosen Method - The basic premise of this treatment is that our bodies store painful, sometimes traumatic memories, that constrict us in many ways.  This can trigger a process which begins on a cellular level, traveling through the body into our organs, bones, ligaments, muscles and skin. When these areas receive loving attention through a mind / body healing experience, we free ourselves of useless limitations and make room for our higher potential to emerge.

Traumas trapped within our bodies diminish the depth and strength of our breath, the range of our movement and our capacity to feel our feelings.  If not released, we are at risk of developing physical dis-eases such as insomnia, chronic fatigue, migraines, eating disorders, anxiety, chronic pain and more.

Rachel Yona Shalev Healing Therapies

This healing treatment connects the body to the mind via simultaneous touch and talk.  In a guided, facilitated journey into the subconscious mind while softly being touched and relaxed, past traumas are gently uncovered, processed and released. Identifying and processing past traumas is an effective path to profound healing.  For more information, read my blog.

Integrated Healing TreatmentsThis hands-on therapy synthesizes a variety of techniques to directly access the physical/ energetic body. The whole person with his/ her unique and specific needs is treated holistically; not only their pain and discomfort, but their entire life circumstances, emotional states, and past/present traumas. Techniques used in a typical session may include trigger point therapy, shiatsu, polarity therapy, deep tissue and Swedish massage, rocking, stretching and more.  Results can include significant relief and improvement from pain, stiffness or symptoms related to chronic conditions, deep relaxation, increased energy levels , and a general sense of well being.

Testimonials

"Rachel's introductory yoga class changed my life. In six short months, I went from being unable to sit on the floor comfortably without multiple blankets to doing actual yoga poses competently and with confidence. I feel more relaxed and have lost 10 lbs and a dress size."

"I love doing yoga with Rachel. She is a patient, encouraging teacher. Her classes are wonderful, but I mostly do private yoga with her. I have been practicing yoga with Rachel for a year now and she has me doing things I never thought I was capable of. I highly recommend Rachel to anyone who wants to practice yoga either privately or in her classes."

Ellen Miller, Jerusalem, August 2016

Rachel is an incredible teacher, healer and intuitive. I have worked with Rachel in various capacities and always walk away feeling lighter and more grounded. Rachel has helped me get through some very challenging times. The space she holds and the presence she brings are really priceless. I would 100% recommend Rachel to anyone!

"Working with Rachel has been such a gift! I feel that I have learned how to deal with my emotions in my body, at the source, rather than a spiraling fashion of the mind. I feel that the healing work she helped me with was truly trans-formative and I cannot thank her enough. She is truly gifted at helping you see and feel the deeper layers of healing work that are trapped within the body. Thank you for helping me connect to the vitality that is within me."

My Story

I discovered Yoga in the 80's to boost my energy, balance my hormones and sharpen my concentration for academic studies. It took me on an unexpected journey of self-discovery, healing, and spiritual development.  Creating space in the body through breath and Asana practice opened my heart and mind, cultivated intention and mindfulness so I was able to experience my life and the world around me in a whole new way.  This is an ever evolving process.

I received my Yoga teacher's certification in Orit Sen-Gupta's First Teacher Training in Vijnana Yoga from Wingate Institute.  My additional training is from Vinni Yoga / Yoga Therapy (Seattle WA), and classical Yoga and meditation with various masters / gurus in Rishikesh, Pune and Gangotri, India.

Additional certifications in several Holistic Healing Arts including Massage Therapy, Shiatsu, Reiki and the Rosen Method. Yoga integrated with these healing practices allows each modality to inform the other, making both Yoga classes and individual therapy sessions a profound experience.

Throughout the past 25 years, I have been privileged to teach and treat various age groups and experience levels - including pre-natal and post-natal, children, teenagers, young adults, middle-aged, the elderly and special needs groups.  A background in drama and creative movement influences my teaching style, which is serious, playful, creative and spontaneous.

Yoga is more than a physical practice; it is a way of life and a path to vitality and wholeness. My mission is to guide others to discover this precious gift.

I’m the mother of 2 adult children, and live in the heart of Jerusalem, Israel. My daily yoga practice is my sanctuary keeping me balanced, joyful and connected to this wonderous city.
